- Japanese startups have access to mentorships, Sunway sections

Sunway Innovation Labs (Sunway iLabs), the innovation arm of Sunway Group and Sunway University has chosen five startups to undergo the Digital Transformation Acceleration Programme arranged in collaboration using the Japanese External Business Organisation Kuala Lumpur (JETRO Kuala Lumpur), a government associated organization that encourages trade and investment between Japan plus Kuala Lumpur.
Sunway iLabs explains that the cooperation provides Japanese tech startups direct access towards the Malaysia ecosystem and also to leverage on Sunway’s ecosystem to speed up growth and possible. Startups will have entry to one-to-one mentorships by industry experts within and beyond Sunway, discuss with potential business companions, attend workshops as well as connect with Sunway’s 13 business units and Sunway’s ecosystem.
“Through the past 3 cohorts and 5 success cases with Sunway iLabs, we are sure that this acceleration program has been named a good entry-point in to the Malaysia ecosystem to get Japanese startups. We are going to definitely do our best to create fruitful results through this fourth cohort by carefully supporting Japanese companies, ” said Yuhei Enguchi, director of Jetro Kuala Lumpur.
1 success story through the previous cohorts can be Toy Eight, a Japanese Edutech startup company that builds AI assessment tools. They partnered Sunway University for a research project that aims to address socio-educational issues in Southeast Asia. Toy Eight has also established their particular presence in Malaysia by setting up the TOY8 Playground in Gardens Mall, Kuala Lumpur.
The top five selected are:
- 80& Company Inc : Evangelizing game based learning to develop learners’ lifetime ability
- AI inside Inc : DX support for companies and organizations by digitizing analog data using AI and utilizing electronic data
- BoostDraft Inc : AI Creating Assistant tailored for Legal Documents that is integrated along with Microsoft Word
- Credit Engine Inc : A one-stop lending and debt-collecting solution for fin-tech/financial institutions to increase the efficiencies of financing and debt gathering process.
- RevComm Incorporation : MiiTel is the self-coaching tool made for companies who are carrying out sales/CS/support via phone or Zoom
“We see the synergies between your startups that have been shortlisted and also their possible to grow in the Southeast Asia region. The five selected startups lately visited Sunway City to connect with the local ecosystem, increasing the efficiency to localize products and services that attracts the Malaysia marketplace in half the time and cost through collaborations.
