India’s Narendra Modi to be sworn in as PM on Sunday

On Sunday, Narendra Modi, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP), will take the oath of office as India’s prime minister for a record-equal third term.

The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. local time ( 12.30 GMT ), according to a senior party leader.

On Tuesday, a BJP- led coalition, the National Democratic Alliance ( NDA ), won the general election with 293 seats.

The results were unexpected as the BJP did not win an outright majority as several exit polls had predicted.

Several days of doubt arose as a result of this: whether empire partners would support Mr. Modi and the BJP or engage in negotiations with an opposition alliance to try and form the government.

However, NDA leaders endorsed Mr. Modi as the coalition’s chief and their candidate for prime minister on Friday.

Mr. Modi thanked his allies and stated that the NDA do make every effort to manage the nation properly and advance it at the meeting in the capital of Delhi.

” NDA has completed around three decades ]as an alliance], this is no ordinary thing. I may say that this is the most powerful empire”, he added.

The BJP won 240 votes in the election, some seats little of the 272 required to get a lot in India’s 543 part congress.

However, two key BJP allies, the Telugu Desam Party ( TDP ) and the Janata Dal ( United ) ( JD ( U)), won 16 and 12 seats each in their respective states, pushing the NDA comfortably over the half- way mark.

Media reports had earlier speculated that the opposition alliance, which won 234 seats, might approach the TDP and JD ( U) to support the bloc and stake claim to form the government.

That skepticism has been dispelled by Friday’s BJP notification.

The partnership will release the names of officials in the coming days and appoint important portfolio.

What agreements, such as financial benefits to their claims or crucial ministries, may be given to regional parties to maintain their membership will also be of interest.

Media reports suggest that TDP head, Chandrababu Naidu, may request for his position, Andhra Pradesh, to be given special status in trade for his help.

This position provides a position with certain financial incentives for its growth.

Due to disagreements over this specific need, Mr. Naidu left the NDA in 2018. He re- joined the alliance weeks before this week’s public vote.

His group has not made an official declaration regarding this need.

Mr. Modi formally resigned on Wednesday, to President Droupadi Murmu, and the legislature was disbanded, a formal action before a new prime minister and Lawmakers are sworn in.

Rahul Gandhi: India Congress leader accuses Modi of stock market scam

Rahul Gandhi, the president of the Indian opposition, has demanded that an exploration into a stock market crash that affected owners at the conclusion of the general election.

He accused senior Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) leaders of making false predictions about stock prices rising after the results were released the day after.

Mr Gandhi, from the Congress party, claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged people to buy stocks before this, which led to them losing money when the market crashed.

Mr Modi’s group, the BJP, has denied the allegations.

Mr. Gandhi has demanded that a Joint Parliamentary Committee ( JPC ) look into Mr. Modi’s and senior ministers ‘ alleged roles.

He claimed that Mr. Modi, original Home Minister Amit Shah, and former finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman had issued a warning to “buy shares before June 4,” suggesting that the business would surge in anticipation of a BJP success.

In May, Mr Shah told NDTV news channel in an interview: “Stock market crashes should not be linked with elections, but even if such a rumour has been spread, I suggest that you buy (shares) before 4 June. It will shoot up.”

Mr Gandhi has labelled it” the biggest scam” in India’s stock market history, alleging that the adjustment benefited certain “dubious international buyers”, causing Indians to lose billions of pounds.

Mr Modi’s departing commerce secretary, Piyush Goyal, has refuted the allegations, accusing Mr Gandhi of misleading owners.

Exit polls had predicted that the BJP would comfortably win a majority – securing more than 272 seats in the 543 member parliament – while together with its alliance partners, this figure would touch 360-370.

The BJP failing to reach the halfway point on its own and the National Democratic Alliance ( NDA ) receiving only 293 seats, the results were markedly different from these predictions.

Mr. Gandhi has since claimed that the BJP knew from its internal study and the intelligence agencies ‘ feedback that it would not get more than 220 seats.

” Despite that, the exit elections were made to show that the BJP was winning a large number of tickets”, Mr Gandhi alleged.

This, he alleged, led to substantial purchase of stocks on 3 June.

When the results came out the next day, the Indian stock market saw one of its worst crashes in years, with investments worth billions of dollars being wiped out.

Since in April and May, when the industry was on the rise, foreign investors had sold stocks that Indians had purchased, according to Mr. Goyal of the BJP, who claimed it was Indians who had profited from the rise and fall in share prices.

And this happened afterwards on 4 June, when the market crashed, he said.

” So immigrants bought at a high price and sold at a low price. American traders bought at a lower price than they did for high-priced items. But in a way, American traders earned even in this phase. No single suffered a damage”, he said.

Congress chief Jairam Ramesh called Mr. Goyal’s explanation “rubbish” and claimed that it did not respond to any particular inquiries posed by Mr. Gandhi on Friday.

The BJP has never responded to Mr Ramesh’s claims.

In response to a surge in oil smuggling and a shift in pirates ‘ strategies, Malaysia has increased measures to monitor cars in all states bordering Thailand.

According to Bernama and the New Straits Times on Thursday, the Indonesian authorities has instructed all petrol stations in Kelantan, Perak, Kedah, and Perlis to record any automobiles and modified cars that make repeated payments of RON95, a type of gasoline in Malaysia, to the government, citing Home Trade and Cost of Living Minister Armizan Mohd Ali.

The New Straits Times quoted him as saying,” We hope they will cooperate and assist the ministry in tracking down drivers who use modified four-wheelers and sedans to smuggle diesel and RON95.”

The government’s enforcement of the order came after Malaysian regulators noticed an increase in energy smuggling, particularly gasoline, since the start of this year at major border gates.

According to Armizan, smugglers no longer use diesel engines but instead use sedans with customized tanks to transport more gasoline.

According to the Indonesian news agency, the minister added that officers from the Road Transport Department will also check all trucks for any changes.

The price of RON95 in Malaysia is 2.05 ringgit ( 15.87 baht ) per litre, compared to benzene 95 in Thailand, which is priced at 45 baht a litre.

The Indonesian minister made the announcement on Thursday during a visit to the boundary between Narathiwat and Tak Bai district.
