Mediacorp clinches four Silvers at Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards

SINGAPORE: At the 14th edition of the prestigious Cannes Corporate Media & amp, TV Awards, which were announced at an awards presentation ceremony in Cannes, France, Mediacorp won four coveted Silver Dolphin trophies.

These were for CNA documentaries, two of which had already been released: A Million Cuts: India’s C-Section Epidemic in the” Human Concerns and Social Issues” category and The Exiles, My Stolen Chinese Father in” History and Personalities/ Portraits.”

The Exiles: My Stolen Chinese Father is the first episode in a two-part historical documentary series that explores the untold tales of love and loss experienced during an era of racial deportations from post-war UK and Australia. It was recently recognized at the ContentAsia Awards 2023 for being the” Best Factual Programme Made in Asia for Multiple Asian and / or International Market.”

It tells the tale of the mysterious disappearance from Liverpool homes and families of thousands of Foreign sailors who had served with the Allies during World War II.

The following instance of the 10th time of CNA’s award-winning analytical series Undercover Asia, which exposes the unexpected fallout of change in the fast-moving continent, is A Million Cuts: Indian C-Section Epidemic.

The Blue Petal Films-produced show focuses on the contentious topic of caesarean sections, or C-sections, in India.

The C-section rate in India’s private hospitals is a whopping 47.4 %, which is much higher than the 15 % threshold recommended by the World Health Organization. This study investigates why millions of mothers are needlessly having their operations.

The Documentaries & nbsp, Riot Island: Prison In Flames in the” Docudrama” category, and The Last Defenders under the categories of” Environment, Ecology and Sustainability ,” were the other two winners. Both were made for Mediacorp by Peddling Pictures.

The second episode of a two-part documentary titled Riot Island: Prison In Flames & nbsp follows the development and demise of Singapore’s first and only open-air prison on Pulau Senang. It investigates how Singapore’s most feared mobsters were rehabilitated through hard work during the 1960s’ innovative social knowledge, which transformed the country from a shining example of prison reform to an all-perilous riot.

The Last Defenders delves deeply into Southeast Asia’s forests to look into the reasons behind forest and the dangers that rising hunting poses to wildlife. The program features climate defenders who risk their lives to defend the wildlife and forests from legal syndicates and illegal poachers.

For this year’s Cannes Corporate Media & amp, TV Awards, more than 45 countries submitted nearly 900 entries.

The awards, which were started in 2010, recognize the top business films, virtual media productions, documentaries, and reports each year in Cannes, one of the most significant film festivals in the world.
