- IdeaKita aims to make, foster 200 brand new tech companies right at the end of the year
- Program enables aspiring innovators, entrepreneurs to start their own tech firms
Maxis and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) are usually collaborating to promote greater innovation plus tech breakthroughs amongst startups through MDEC’s IdeaKita programme.
Within a statement, the telco said as part of the partnership, Tai Kam Leong, head of Brand and Marketing and Arjun Varma, head of Maxis Consumer, supplied their expertise as industry mentors to guide participants in the Office Hours Mentoring Sessions in MDEC’s ten-day IdeaKita Innovation Camp from 3-31 October.
It stated the IdeaKita program which is under the Malaysia Digital initiative, enables aspiring innovators and entrepreneurs to start their own tech companies throughout multiple industries.
It also provides industry mentorship, mental property awareness, and minimum viable application, the firm additional.
Maxis said the bootcamp was divided into two tracks – for those who want to start a tech company but do not have a business concept yet; and for people who already have a business idea and are looking for consumer and market affirmation, MVP development, and learning how to sell.
It added that through the bootcamp, flourishing innovators and entrepreneurs were given access to business mentors and training courses to validate their problem statements, suggestions, and business versions to bring them to marketplace.

“As section of the new Malaysia Digital initiative, our goal is to create and foster 200 new tech companies right at the end of the year, ” he added.
“MDEC will continue to speed up collaborations that will generate digital adoption amongst young entrepreneurs, companies, and the rakyat to create Malaysia a deb igital center in ASEAN, ” Mahadhir said.
In the meantime, Loh Keh Jiat (pic, left) , chief marketing officer, Maxis said the company is certainly excited to be a part of MDEC’s IdeaKita programme as an industry mentor to guide aspiring technopreneurs in the ideation and approval of tech options that are relevant to the market demands of today as well as the future.

Maxis continues to be active in the innovation area, developing several programmes with the startup ecosystem in collaboration with MDEC through initiatives such as the Maxis IoT Challenge, SPARK collection and Market Gain access to Day.
