Kranji Primary School to move to Tengah, Outram Secondary relocating to Sengkang

SINGAPORE: Kranji Primary School will move from Choa Chu Kang to Tengah in 2028, while Outram Secondary School will relocate to a new campus in Sengkang in 2026, the Ministry of Education (MOE) said on Tuesday (Jan 16).

These were among the relocation plans announced by MOE to “better cater to changing demand for school and preschool places” in Singapore.

The ministry also announced the opening of two MOE kindergartens – one each in Tampines North and Bukit Batok.

KRANJI PRIMARY SCHOOL

The relocation of Kranji Primary School means that there will be two primary schools in Tengah by 2028. Pioneer Primary School, will relocate from Jurong West to Tengah in 2026.

Anglo-Chinese School (Primary) will open in Tengah in 2030.

MOE said there is a surplus of school places in the north of Choa Chu Kang, where Kranji Primary School is currently located.

Kranji Primary School will stop accepting Primary 1 students from 2025. The school will continue to operate at its current site until all their existing students graduate by end-2029.

As the primary school will stop accepting Primary 1 students from 2025, siblings of existing students will not be able to register for Kranji Primary School.

“However, there are sufficient Primary 1 places in Choa Chu Kang for eligible Primary 1 students to be admitted into,” said MOE.

Kranji Primary School will begin operations at its Tengah campus in 2028. Parents who wish to enrol their children in Primary 1 at the school in 2028 can register in the 2027 registration exercise.

MOE also announced the opening of a new primary school in Tampines North in 2029, as more families move to the area with the completion of new Build-to-Order projects there.

Details of the new primary school will be announced at a later date, said the Education Ministry.
