ABU DHABI: Indonesia and the Usa Arab Emirates on Friday (Jul 1) signed a free business agreement, strengthening economic ties between Southeast Asia’s largest economy and the major essential oil producing Gulf state.

The accord, reached throughout a visit by Indonesian President Joko Widodo to Abu Dhabi, will remove or sharply reduce duties on most goods traded between the Muslim nations.

The UAE economy ministry mentioned Indonesian palm oil, foods, fashion wear and Emirati petrochemicals, rubberized products, plastics and steel would take advantage of reduced or eliminated tariffs.
