ComfortDelGro launches its first robotaxi pilot programme in China

In the Chinese city of Guangzhou, ComfortDelGro on Monday ( Mar 17 ), its first robotaxi pilot program was unveiled.

The travel operator with a presence in Singapore introduced the two-year aircraft in partnership with Pony. Ai, a technology company specialized in intelligent moving, has already established autonomous driving collaborations with Saudi Arabia, Luxembourg, and the United Arab Emirates.

Two businesses signed a contract in July of last year to look into large-scale professional robot axi operations.

The pilot program represents a major step in the commercialization of robot solutions for both businesses, ComfortDelGro stated in a press release.

With the intention of having a large-scale implementation in China and other global businesses as a result of this two-year captain, ComfortDelGro will be able to develop and enhance features for autonomous vehicle technology activities and fleet management.

A” little fleet” of Lexus RX450 vehicles will be used immediately before and the Singapore company revealed to CNA that additional car models will be introduced throughout the program.

The Guangzhou robotaxi captain program’s charge was not disclosed.

It established the Autonomous Vehicle Centre of Excellence in 2022 at a cost of S$ 30 million ( US$ 22.5 % ) to develop capabilities in autonomous vehicle operations and fleet management.

Cheng Siak Kian, ComfortDelGro’s handling director and team CEO, said in a statement that the development of autonomous vehicle technology is essential for the development of the transportation sector.
