Singapore and Thailand sign 5 MOUs, mark 60 years of diplomatic ties

This time, Singapore and Thailand honor their 60 years of political relations, according to MTI. The STEER governmental conference was co-chaired by both ministers on Friday in Singapore.

They praised partnerships between Singapore and Thailand firms and reiterated long-standing diplomatic financial assistance.

MTI reported that the meeting even saw positive progress in the discussions of agri-trade, investments, digital economy, intellectual property, coal credits, and collaboration with boat tourism.

The government continued,” Singapore businesses have also found reliable partners in Thailand for new markets like banking, medical technology, and electrical vehicles.”

Dr. Tan, who is also the Minister of Manpower, said:” Singapore and Thailand are near diplomatic economic partners. This time, we have strengthened the firm links between our countries, utilizing our comparable strengths to achieve win-win outcomes for both our economies.

I look forward to developing our relationship for another 60 years and beyond as we prepare to celebrate our country’s 60th political anniversary, creating new opportunities for our people and businesses.

Singapore’s exports to Thailand increased by 14 % to S$ 29.3 billion in 2024, while its imports from Thailand totaled S$ 150.2 billion.

With 357.5 billion baht ( USS$ 14.25 billion ), which made up 43 % of Thailand’s total FDI applications, Singapore was also the country’s main source of foreign direct investment in 2024.
