- By the end of 2029, world 5G subscriptions are expected to reach 5.3 billion.
- By 2029 and nbsp, data use in SEA/Oceania will increase from 24GB per month to 66GB.
By the end of 2023, nearly one-in-five smart subscriptions worldwide will be 5G, according to Ericsson, as progress continues despite ongoing financial difficulties and political unrest in some markets. The statistic is included in the Ericsson Mobility Report‘s November 2023 book. According to the review, there will be 610 million new 5G membership for the calendar year 2023, an increase of 63 percent from 2022, bringing the total to 1.6 billion, or about 100 million more than was originally anticipated.
Since its introduction in 2011, the statement has served as an , an market reference source for community data, performance, statistics, and forecasts.
The 25th version of the most recent report has a fresh lower timeline for statistical prediction, shifting from 2028 to 2029. The Nov 2023 report confirms improved portable broadband, fixed wireless accessibility, gaming, and AR/VR/based services as the most typical beginning consumer use cases for 5G, in line with current editions.
In North America, the demand for 5G membership is still very high. The region is anticipated to have the highest 5G license penetration globally by the end of 2023, at 61 percent. India has seen a significant increase in 5G subscriptions throughout 2023. In India, 5G penetration is anticipated to have surpassed 11 % by the end of 2023, fourteen months after its commercial release.  ,
anticipates a rise in the number of 5G independent network used.
International 5G subscriptions are expected to rise by more than 330 percent in the six years between the conclusion of 2023 and 2029, from 1.6 billion to 5.3 billion. By the end of 2023, more than 45 percentage of the world’s population will have access to 5G policy, and by 2029, that percentage will become 85 percent. By the end of 2029, 92 percent of the region’s 5G insertion charges, including  , North America, and the Gulf Cooperation Council, are anticipated. Western Europe is anticipated to follow at a penetration rate of 85 %.
More than 600 million 5G membership have been added nationally this year, and they are increasing in every region, according to Fredrik Jejdling, Executive Vice President and Head of Networks at Ericsson. As 5G rollout progresses, more and more independent networks are being set up, creating opportunities for both consumers and businesses to support new and demanding applications.
The common smartphone data usage continues to rise globally. According to estimates, the amount of wireless data traffic will increase tenfold between the end of 2023 and 2029 due to factors like improved device capabilities, an increase in data-intensive content, and ongoing advancements in the efficiency of deployed networks.
Want to increase 5G mid-band coverage both indoors and outdoor
” The rate of data growth in mobile networks clearly reflects customers ‘ passion for enhanced mobile broadband-related software,” according to Peter Jonsson, executive director of Ericson Mobility Report. As more people use 5G globally and innovative use cases appear, this trend will pick up speed, driving up data traffic. Since most traffic is generated indoors, where people generally spend the majority of their time, it is becoming more and more necessary to provide coverage for the 5G mid-band both inside and outside to ensure a seamless 5Go experience everywhere.
The 5G mid-band is a great option for delivering the whole 4G experience because it combines high capacity with great coverage. Global coverage of the 5G mid-band population is currently greater than 40 %, up from 30 % in 2022. The increase is primarily caused by significant mid-band operations in India, but it is also being fueled by various large-scale mid–band transfers in Europe.
The review also examines how 5G is enabling the agility needed to support quick changes and resource reallocation, how wireless connectivity is becoming a major factor in manufacturing output, and other topics.
Highlights of Southeast Asia
By the end of 2029, there will be about 550 million 5G subscribers in Oceania and Southeast Asia. The emphasis of the service providers is on diversifying support offerings for both consumers and businesses, in addition to building the first 5G infrastructure in the area. Top priorities in the region continue to be improving customer knowledge, expanding network coverage, and promoting online alterations for companies.
Mobile data customers per smartphone is still increasing rapidly in Southeast Asia and Oceania, and it is anticipated that it will increase from 24GB per month in 2023 to about 66GB annually by 2029, or a Rate of 19 %.
Three in-depth reports are included in the Ericsson Mobility Report for November 2023:
- rollout of large-scale 5G SA to promote digital transformation in India.
- The need for improved efficiency is driven by the demand for domestic connectivity.
- dexterity made possible by 5G in gigafactories and clean steel plants
