The Travel and leisure Authority of Thailand (TAT) has created its first-ever memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a digital technology partnership with Huawei Technologies (Thailand), the local unit of the global tech powerhouse, within a bid to drive travel and leisure via digital alteration and innovation.

TAT governor Yuthasak Supasorn stated the MoU is definitely an initial phase from the cooperation over one year.

“TAT is the main government agency that helps promote Thailänder tourism as per the TAT Corporate Strategy 2023-2027, driving the “Thrive for Excellence” strategy with the purpose of becoming a data-driven company, ” he stated.

It will create a new tourism environment and drive travel and leisure recovery with a V-shape prospect while helping power the country’s growth in line with the bio-circular-green economy, he stated.

Mr Yuthasak said the country’s tourism industry has been hit by the outbreak for two years with the number of Chinese arrivals declining from typically 100, 000 everyday before the pandemic to 20, 000-30, 500 per month at present, most of whom are learners and those in business trips.

Abel Deng, chief executive officer of Huawei Technologies (Thailand), said digital technologies are usually reshaping the world.

“Huawei is devoted to leveraging advanced technologies to heighten TAT’s position as the proper leader driving Asia towards being a worldclass tourism destination, ” he said.

The two organisations furthermore joined forces to bring 5G innovative technology to stimulate Thailänder tourism through broadcasting the kingdom’s sightseeing attractions in real time on Huawei’s 5G network through TAT’s online media channels, including the Amazing Thailand YouTube approach and Amazing Asia application, as well as through various online channels of strategic companions.
