- Designed to develop skills necessary for a career in tech
- 42 Iskandar Puteri is the second campus in the 42 Malaysia network
Sunway’s 42 Iskandar Puteri (42IP) invites all Malaysians interested in learning coding to join a free 26-day coding bootcamp by playing a fun logic game on their new website.
Situated in Sunway Iskandar Puteri, 42IP is a coding school with zero fees, zero teachers, and zero traditional classrooms, offering an innovative education model designed to develop the skills needed to jumpstart a career in tech through a project-based learning approach.
This unique, disruptive, free-education model is part of the 42 campus that was first established in Paris, France in 2013 with the second in 2016 in the Silicon Valley, USA. A globally renowned education network, 42IP is known for its peer-to-peer learning environment, project-based approach, and gamified curriculum. 42KL in Sunway City Kuala Lumpur is the first in Malaysia and among the first such campuses in Southeast Asia.
42IP is the second addition to the 42 Malaysia network, a nation-building joint venture between Sunway Education Group and Khazanah Nasional Bhd, aiming to advance Malaysia’s digital landscape.
Jeff Sandhu (pic), chief operating officer of 42 Malaysia spoke about bringing a new era of coding education to a broader audience, marking a significant milestone in extending accessibility to the southern region. “This represents our commitment to fostering digital skills and empowering aspiring individuals across Malaysia to explore the world of coding and kickstart their journey towards a rewarding tech career. Our goal is to develop 10,000 tech talent in the next ten years, advancing Malaysia into a more digitally-savvy nation,” he said.
The 42 programme offers an educational opportunity to all Malaysians, irrespective of academic background, gender and socioeconomic status. With a commitment to offering equal opportunities for pursuing computer science, admissions to 42 campuses rely entirely on merit. This ensures that individuals with the passion and dedication to learn can access this entirely free programme.
The programme provides an immersive, hands-on experience where students actively learn with their peers by working on projects. This not only enhances their practical proficiency but also cultivates essential soft skills that effectively bridge the gap for industry demands, preparing students to thrive in the professional world.
To join the program, candidates must play a game assessing their logical thinking and memory. Successful candidates are then invited to participate in a 26-day coding boot camp, called the Piscine, where they learn the basics of coding through projects, exams, and peer evaluations.
The 26-day coding bootcamp, or Piscine, serves as a prelude to an extensive 12 to 18 months program at 42KL called the Core Programme, providing extensive training in more advanced coding projects with real-world applications.
As applications for the inaugural 26-day coding bootcamp open in Q2 2024, interested applicants are encouraged to register by playing the game before April 2024. Visit the website to discover your coding potential.
