A previous sufferer of economic abuse who just wanted to be known as Bayu, informed CNA that her ex-husband would only give her money to support their children if she got a job.

He had complete control over her private money, as well as the finances of her family, she continued.

She confronted him just seven months into the relationship after reevaluating her position. He therefore told her that she had to ask for his approval before making a purchase.

However, the 41-year-old said that any attempt to purchase everything was typically met with risks, which continued for more than a decade.

” At the beginning, I just wanted one thing: to get divorced. However, there are” so many things I have to complete” to get marriage, Bayu said.

” At that point, I had everything, no purchase, no money, no cash, no money. I felt as though I could do whatever I wanted to do because he would n’t let me stay in the house if I pleaded with him to get a divorce, even if I did.
