Singtel landline outage: Calls to emergency services, banks and businesses affected

SINGAPORE: A Singtel landline outage on Tuesday ( Oct 8 ) affected calls to emergency services, healthcare institutions, banks and businesses.

The Singapore Police Force ( SPF ) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) both stated that they were working with their service provider to resolve the issue. &nbsp,

” Members of the public who are experiencing challenges reaching us at 995 or 999 you SMS SCDF at 70995 or SPF at 70999 instead”, they said in a joint statement on Facebook. &nbsp,

” The protection and well-being of the community is our top priority. As soon as more information becomes available, we will give improvements.

Some of Singtel’s customers “may be experiencing periodic set speech company problem,” Singtel said in a Twitter post at around 3.30pm.

The company stated in a following update that its technicians were “working immediately” to implement plugin measures as it worked to solve the issue at around 4.30pm. &nbsp,

” We apologise for the trouble caused. All mobile and broadband services remain unaffected” .&nbsp,

SINGHEALTH, BANKS AMONG THOSE AFFECTED

Among those impacted was Sing Health, who said its&nbsp, telephone interview lines are partially unavailable due to the Singtel ISDN failure. &nbsp,

This refers to Singtel’s Integrated Services Digital Network ( ISDN), which supports high-call-volume call centres and businesses.

The SingHealth Health Buddy software continues to offer session and billing service. &nbsp,

KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) even flagged that its telephone lines were over due to a “technical problem”.

Customer support for DBS and UOB likewise had problems. &nbsp,

Our company company has informed us that they are experiencing technical issues that are affecting our customer service hotlines. We are working closely with them to overcome this industry-wide problem as soon as possible”, DBS said on Twitter.

In a separate speech, UOB claimed that its clients may be having continuous connections to its consumer contact hotline as a result of a “telco support disruption.”

At around 3.50pm, over 2, 700 information relating to Singtel had been filed on interruption tracking site Downdetector. &nbsp,

Different individuals and businesses also experienced the effects. Our Tanjong Pagar, a group organization, claimed that its telephone lines were “temporarily over due to a Singtel service interruption in the East and Central areas of Singapore.” &nbsp,

Problems even surfaced at Jireh Veterinary Clinic and Healthmark Clinic. &nbsp,
