'Significant number' of Cordlife clients accept refund offer

SINGAPORE: On Tuesday ( May 7 ), Cordlife reported that several clients whose cord blood units were damaged after being exposed to sub-optimal temperatures have accepted refunds. &nbsp,

The country’s oldest exclusive cord blood bank is Cordlife, a Singapore-listed company with a listed Singaporean office.

In November, it was discovered that seven of the company’s vehicles had been exposed to temperatures above appropriate boundaries. &nbsp,

Around 2, 200 cord blood products, belonging to nearly 2, 150 users, in one of the company’s vehicles ( Tank A) were found to be damaged next. &nbsp,

Another 5, 300 thread blood units in a subsequent tank and a clean shipper were deemed to become “non- practical” as well in April. &nbsp,

The remaining five vehicles, which contain about 14, 000 cord blood products, were assessed to be at minimal- risk of being affected.

In a press release, the company announced that” a considerable amount” of customers who had cord blood products stored in Tank A had agreed to receive a refund of annual costs from the year of the heat vacation.

CNA contacted Cordlife, but the company’s representative declined to provide an exact number of clients who had accepted the payments.

The payments may require Cordlife to keep the cord blood samples of these customers’ until their company agreements are mature, when their children will turn 21 without charge. &nbsp,

The company promised to make every effort to locate a suitable replacement in the event that a transplant doctor determines that the cord blood device cannot be safely used for a cord blood transplant that meets the viability criteria. &nbsp,

The exact payment has been extended to those who received cord blood from wire donors who were stored in the dry carrier and who were deemed high-risk of being affected by heat fluctuations, according to the statement.

In the event that more cord blood products from the five low-risk tanks are tested, any billings for clients whose cord blood units are stored there will be paused in the event of the results of each tank’s tests. &nbsp,

While we work toward resolution, Cordlife reassured these consumers that the business would n’t dispose of any wire blood products. &nbsp,

We politely ask for their endurance as we consider our next steps, and we will call them as soon as we can determine the best course of action.

Cordlife made the announcement on April 8 that it would refund customers who had wire heart in high-risk vehicles.

Some kids complained to CNA last month that the offer may not reimburse decades of annual fees they had already paid because it had only been reimbursed for annual fees since the temperature has risen. &nbsp,
