Powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake strikes Philippines; 4 dead, 60 injured

A hospital within Abra province had been evacuated after the creating partially collapsed, but there were no casualties reported there, officials said.

Bernos posted pictures of the damaged Abra hospital on her Facebook account, which demonstrated a gaping opening in its facade.

Other photos demonstrated hospital beds, which includes one with a patient, being wheeled across a road and evacuated hospital employees.

“We continue to be experiencing aftershocks. We now have received reports associated with damages to houses. But so far simply no casualties, ” Mayor Rovelyn Villamor in the town of Lagangilang in Abra province told  radio station  DZRH.

Renato Solidum, director from the state seismology agency, told DZRH that will strong aftershocks had been expected.

“The focus of attention is on Abra and nearby provinces. This is a major earthquake, ” Solidum mentioned, adding that landslides had been reported in certain parts of Abra, especially in the town associated with Manabo.
