After an hours-long blackout that started on Friday, a state utility announced in a statement that power was fully restored on Indonesia’s resort island of Bali as of early Saturday morning ( May 3 ).
Early indications, according to Darmawan Prasodjo, president-director of the state electricity company Perusahaan Listrik Negara ( PLN), were that a failure in subsea cables was to blame.
The power grid on Bali and Java Island are connected by subsea cables.
A number of areas in Bali were affected by the authority failure starting at 4pm on Friday, according to PLN.  ,
Although some absences were delayed, the region’s aircraft was also affected, but inbound and outbound airlines continued using backup generators.  ,
According to the island’s figures commission, 6.3 million foreign visitors visited Bali in the country last year.  ,  ,
