Philippines says it will not yield to submission in row with 'patronising' China

MANILA: The Philippines is not seeking a fight or trouble in the South China Sea but will not be cowed into silence, submission, or subservience, its defence ministry said Friday ( Mar 29 ), in its latest show of defiance in a heated row with China.

According to the Spanish defense department in a statement, current Chinese claims reveal their confinement from the rest of the world as a result of their “illegal and uncivilized actions” in the South China Sea.

” It also shows the ability of the Chinese state to do open, clear, and legal conversations. Their vocabulary consists solely of patronising and, failing that, intimidating smaller nations”, the department said.

The statement was made in response to Beijing’s response to its Chinese counterpart’s complaint on Thursday that the Philippines had engaged in provocations, misconceptions, and betrayal after Beijing was accused of acting aggressively in Manila’s exclusive economic zone.
