Parliament to discuss COVID-19, AGO audit and workplace safety at Aug 1 sitting

SINGAPORE: The current COVID-19 circumstance in Singapore , the Auditor-General’s Workplace (AGO) audit of open public agencies for the 12 months 2021/2022   and the S$7. 4 billion dollars loss recorded by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in the last financial year are among the topics that will be discussed at the next Parliament sitting on Monday (Aug 1).

Several MPs have also filed queries on wildlife in Singapore after recent reports of  monkeys entering residential areas .  

After showcasing prominently in the House earlier this month, the particular Singapore Sports Hub will again be discussed, with Minister for Culture, Community and Youngsters Edwin Tong anticipated to deliver a ministerial statement on the subject.

Labour MP Melvin Yong (PAP-Radin Mas) will also speak for approximately 20 minutes within an adjournment motion to the issue of workplace security .  

And NCMP Leong Mun Wai (PSP) has submitted the petition calling to get a review of the Selective En bloc Redevelopment Scheme (SERS), and the imposition of a moratorium on SERS pending the findings plus recommendation of the review.

He had earlier submitted a petition in Parliament regarding the structure ,   upon Jul 4.

On the COVID-19 pandemic, questions have been submitted by Members associated with Parliament on reinfections, vaccination for young children and the current deaths of 2 children from the disease.

MP Wan Rizal (PAP-Jalan Besar) asked for an upgrade on an ongoing study by the Health Sciences Authority and the Expert Committee on COVID-19 Vaccination, on the safety and efficacy associated with vaccines for children under the age of five .

Additionally , MEGA-PIXEL Dennis Tan (WP-Hougang) asked if the fatalities of two kids as a result of COVID-19 – on Jun 27 and Jul seventeen   – are raising problems about the susceptibility of kids to new coronavirus strains.

MEGA-PIXEL Joan Pereira (PAP-Tanjong Pagar) asked if the Government has observed a rise in reinfections amid the emergence of Omicron subvariants, and whether 2nd booster shots will be made available to younger people.  

And MP Seah Kian Peng (PAP-Marine Parade) asked the Ministry of Health (MOH) for an estimate of the proportion of Singapore’s population that has been infected with COVID-19, including unreported cases. This individual also asked in the event that Singapore has achieved herd immunity with that infection level.
