A African man has been detained by police on the holiday island of Koh Phangan after overstaying his immigration by nine times.

According to Pol Lt Col Winit Bunchit of the Tourist Police, a stranger claiming to be an important man from Nigeria was requesting free food and lodging when local people complained.

When officers found the believe, he attempted to flee, but they pursued and detained him.

Officers&nbsp, found that Benjamin Chiemelie Ene, 35, had overstayed his immigration by 276 time. He was taken to the Koh Phangan police stop for more legitimate activity.

The okay for a card starring is 500 ringgit per day, up to a maximum of 20, 000 baht.
