A person has been detained in Bangkok after allegedly raping his granddaughter since she was six years old. The victim, now 12, just learned about the crimes after telling a hospital doctor that her mother disapproved of her.

According to Pol Maj Gen Theeradet Thumsuthee, chief inspector of the Metropolitan Police Bureau ( MPB), soldiers detained the man identified only as Amnuay, 60, on Saturday in front of the Ton- or house tower on Phetkasem Soi 84 in Bang Khae area.

On May 17, the Thon Buri Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Amnuay, of Wang Chao region in Tak, for raping a child under the age of 13 times.

According to Pol Maj Gen Theeradet, the victim had been abused for more than six decades. When the child, who was six years old and residing with her mother and stepfather in Tak, started receiving misuse in 2017.

The suspect sexually abused the girl when her family left, and threatened to kill her mom if she exposed the acts, according to authorities.

After the family relocated to Bangkok, the mistreatment continued. The woman suddenly made up her mind to tell her mother, but she was upset that she had no faith in her. Worse still, police said, the family took the side of her father.

She was admitted to a doctor in May of last year after suffering a hemorrhagic disease. She decided to tell the physician about her repeated sexual victimization after a kind doctor examined her case closely.

The doctor soon coordinated with interpersonal staff after finding out about her situation. A detailed health check-up established the abuse. The physician said that if the woman was sent back to her family, she might be in a “hell- like” position.

According to Pol Maj Gen Theeradet, the doctor contacted child safety and security officials in Bangkok to take the girl to a child and family happiness home.

When the girl’s older brother learned of what had happened to his girlfriend, he took her to the Lak Song police station to lodge a grievance against their father.

An MPB analysis group was assigned by Pol Maj Gen Theeradet to find the suspect. He was later discovered and taken into custody in the Bang Khae area while he was staying with the murderer’s mother.

Mr. Amnuay disputed all allegations and claimed the woman had fabricated the history to support her assertions during questioning.

He claimed that the woman had dementia and was incoherent in her explanation. Her teacher, he said, frequently complained that she did n’t pay attention to her studies.

Officers, according to Pol Maj Gen Theeradet, were unsure about the suspect’s account, and added that detectives had found enough information to get the arrest.

The Lak Song police station has received the suspect’s constitutional documentation.
