MOM investigating convenience store chain Emart24 after former employees go unpaid

SINGAPORE: Advantage business network Emart24 is being investigated by the Ministry of Manpower ( MOM) for reportedly failing to pay past people. &nbsp,

15 former South Korean chain employees who claimed unpaid salaries have contacted the Tripartite Alliance for Dispute Management ( TADM). &nbsp,

These workers are already receiving aid.

In a joint statement released on Saturday ( Apr 13 ), the company and MOM stated that TADM had successfully helped five workers reach an agreement with Emart24. The company has begun repaying them.

The remaining staff are currently scheduled for counseling sessions, according to TADM.

The people who are impacted and in need of career guidance have been referred to the labor government’s Employment and Employability Institute, the officials added.

MOM and TADM urged companies to pay workers on time, and they advised people to contact TADM earlier if they need help with wage claims via the Tripartite Alliance site.

Emart24 debuted in Singapore at the end of 2022 and finally opened three stores around the nation.

In March, all three stores immediately shut down.

CNA has contacted Emart24 for opinion.
