MOH planning enhanced package for nurses as part of efforts to build up healthcare workforce: Ong Ye Kung

SINGAPORE: The particular Ministry of Wellness (MOH) will be preparing an enhanced transaction package for healthcare professionals for 2022 plus 2023 as part of attempts to build up Singapore’s healthcare workforce, said Wellness Minister Ong Ye Kung on Fri (Jul 29).

“As the pandemic is still continuous with a major burden falling on our nurses, I think they are deserving of another payment, perhaps structured as a nurses’ retention payment, ” said Mr Ong during a speech at the  2022 Health care Scholarships award ceremony.

During their speech, Mr Ong said Singapore should keep up its “relentless effort” to build up the healthcare workforce in terms of size, capability and quality and keep this a top priority.

The Health Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) noted that healthcare professionals are in “great demand” across all health care settings and in numerous countries.

“A significant change in the post COVID-19 globe is that healthcare cannot be regarded solely as a local domestic service. We need to keep an eye on the international competitors for healthcare manpower, ” he additional.

MANPOWER FOCAL POINTS FOR NURSING LABOR FORCE

Mr Ong said the two key factors that figure out the attractiveness from the healthcare sector are remuneration and the professional work environment.

This individual noted that an overview of the salaries for nurses and allied health professionals was completed in 2021, and a pay adjustment for healthcare professionals was completed this month.

It was announced in March 2021 that nurses in the public healthcare sector will obtain an increase of five to 14 % in their monthly foundation salaries from July.
