Modi files candidacy for India election in Hindu holy city

In a general election with a clear majority in his party, energizing crowds greeted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday ( May 14 ).

Modi’s planted reputation as a vehement proponent of India’s lot faith continues to be highly regarded in India.

The top has represented Varanasi since coming to power ten years ago, serving as the Hindu’s moral capital. Devotees from all over India gather to cremation grounds by the Ganges river.

” I swear on God… I may have trust and allegiance to India’s constitution”, Modi said before handing over the document to an election registration, flanked by a Hindu mysterious dressed in a robe.

At the conclusion of a two-day campaign stop drenched in many common displays of worship, hundreds of supporters had gathered to congratulate Modi outside the local government office where he had filed his nomination.

” It’s our great wealth that Modi represents our district of Varanasi”, faithful Hindu Jitendra Singh Kumar, a 52- yr- old farmer, told AFP while waiting to get a picture of the head.

” He is like a God to the people of Varanasi. He thinks about the region first, unlike other officials”.

After leaving the office, Modi made a wave to the assembled crowd and then left with his entourage, which included senior members of his ruling Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) party.

The 73-year-old Modi, who has dedicated his life to spiritual deeds, had spent the morning visiting churches and praying along the Ganges.

As Modi arrived in Varanasi on Monday, tens of thousands of followers greeted the city’s streets, waving from a flatbed trailer as loudspeakers blared spiritual songs.

As the BJP paraded daisy flowers at the march along the side of the road, many people waved saffron-colored flags bearing the party’s lotus flower emblem as it passed.
