Microsoft to invest US$2.2 billion in cloud and AI services in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: &nbsp, Microsoft pledged a US$ 2.2 billion investment in artificial intelligence and cloud computing in Malaysia on Thursday ( May 2 ) to help build the country’s AI system.

The software bear’s main professional Satya Nadella is on a three- state trip of Southeast Asia- Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia- to reveal a range of investments in data centres, AI and cloud services.

Microsoft announced today that it would spend US$ 2.2 billion over the next four years to support Malaysia’s online change, making it the second largest expense in the country in its 32-year history, in a statement released as Nadella delivered a presentation speech in Kuala Lumpur.

The funds would be used to develop AI and fog infrastructure in Malaysia, establish an AI center of excellence, and train up to 200 000 Malaysians, according to the statement.

” We are committed to supporting Malaysia’s AI change and maintain it benefits all Malay”, Nadella said in the speech.

” Our investments in digital infrastructure and crafting will enable Malaysian companies, populations, and designers to use the most recent technology to promote inclusive economic growth and innovation across the nation,” said CEO.

He also confirmed the funding in his presentation statement, saying he was “really happy” to reveal the growth.

” We definitely want to make sure that we have globe- class infrastructure right here in the country so that every organisation, every software developer, every start- up, can use it to actually not only to build for this country, but for the world and the region”, he told the crowd.

The pledge comes after he announced a US$ 1.7 billion investment in Indonesia, as well as Thailand’s first regional data centre&nbsp, this week to boost cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
