Mediacorp wins 19 awards at New York Festivals TV & Film Awards 2024, including five golds

SINGAPORE: Mediacorp won 19 honors at the New York Festivals Television & Film Awards 2024, including five medals.

In a media release on Thursday ( Apr 18 ), the company announced that it also received five silver and nine bronze awards.

These were among the 57 honors which Mediacorp achieved, with the business even securing 38 winner awards.

The awards were mostly based on CNA’s video and current affairs programs as well as their drama articles, Mediacorp said on Thursday.

CNA secured four medals, two bronze, three statues and 14 champion awards.

The Exiles, a film that won one of the platinum awards, came out on top in the Documentary- Past category. Society group. The film follows the heirs of those deported as they reflect on profound events from the past that still resonate now, spotlighting an age of ethnically motivated persecution from the United Kingdom and Australia after World War II.

CNA ‘s  The Next Soldiers of India  also  won gold in the category of documentaries- cultural justice. Produced by Peddling Pictures, it explores Asia’s forests, mountains and lakes, highlighting how endangered animals is poached and plundered.  

Undercover Asia –  CNA’s award-winning analytical sequence- snagged a platinum in the Documentary- Health/Medical Info group for its episode on  Tainted Medicine Scandal.   Produced by Blue Petal Films, the film takes a closer look at one of Asia’s contaminated medicine controversies, which resulted in the deaths of 300 babies in 2022 and 2023 after they consumed cough syrup.

CNA’s recent affairs line, Reaching the Unreached: The Doctor For The Nomads, even took the top spot in the Craft Program- Direction group. The series, which was produced by Kraken Films, explores the issues of great healthcare inequality in Asia and tells the tales of wandering doctors who provide healthcare to remote and unattainable areas.

The last gold was won by JUO Studio’s After Dark Season 2- Skin Deep, a dread book series that won the prize in the specific sensory effects category.
