JAKARTA: According to media reports, Indonesian firefighters were battling it out on Saturday ( Mar 30 ) to put an enormous fire out at a military ammunition depot just outside the capital.
No fatalities were immediately reported from the affair in Bekasi, which is located near Jakarta.
Bright orange lights lit up billowing clouds of smoke against the night sky in professional images captured by the local community KompasTV, and loud blasts and cries could be heard from a distance of several kilometers.
The film was no immediately verified by Reuters.
KompasTV reported that the fire broke out at about 6.30pm ( 7.30pm, Singapore time ) and was not yet under control.
An army standard, Kristomei Sianturi, told KompasTV that the government were evacuating citizens from nearby towns.
Rescuers could not yet extinguish the fire, he said.
