Malaysia dismisses calls to remove defence firms that supply weapons to Israel from KL exhibitions

Criticism Tones

Former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, a coalition of political events and civil society organizations that criticize the presence of defense companies that supply hands to Israel, are just a few examples, according to Malay media reviews.

The Palestine Solidarity Secretariat said the government may reveal the cooperation of businesses such as Lockheed Martin, MBDA ( element- owned by BAE Systems ), Aimpoint, Colt, L3Harris, Leupold, Shield AI and Leonardo.

The statement read,” These are the very people who provided the tools for the murder, and it continues to this day.”

The government needs to demonstrate that its help for Palestine is more than just rhetoric.

Dr Mahathir acknowledged Lockheed and MBDA ( BAE Systems ) have participated in previous editions of the exhibitions, but said” the situation this time is extraordinary”. The government may get the firms to depart, he said.

According to Mr. Khaled, private parties run the defense events.

DSA Exhibition and Conference Sdn Bhd is the administrator, according to the events ‘ website. It lists the household affairs and defence ministers as guests, supporters and i- organisers. On Monday, Mr. Anwar inaugurated the exhibits.

The events do not favour any particular region or firm, and also&nbsp, feature a “large contribution from Islamist nations” such as Turkiye, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan, added Mr Khaled.

On Malaysia’s defence procurement policy, Mr Khaled said it takes into account latest technological advances, the country’s strategic needs, cost- effectiveness, national interests and Malaysia’s “global political stance”.

He claimed that the defense ministry has “always consistently supported the national policy against all forms of injustice against the Palestinian state.”
