SINGAPORE: Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong is ready to lead Singapore, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong wrote on Monday ( May 13 ) in a letter to , President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, announcing his intention to resign on Wednesday.
The text is a formal approach in Singapore’s management move, following last season’s announcement that Mr Wong, 51, did be , will be sworn in as Prime Minister on Wednesday.
Mr. Lee was thanked by President Tharman in return. Therefore, in a letter to Mr. Wong, he stated his desire to nominate him as PM and invite him to form the upcoming coalition.
Mr Lee, 72, noted in his notice that he had , initially planned to finger over to a leader by the time he was 70 but the COVID- 19 pandemic disrupted this timeframe.
” After the pandemic, we carried out a procedure to choose my son. In a letter to President Tharman, he wrote that the PAP ( People’s Action Party ) Members of Parliament met on April 14 and unanimously approved Mr. Wong as the person who would succeed me.
” Today, two years on, he is ready to guide Singapore”, wrote , Mr Lee, who publicly advised the President to ask Mr Wong to shape the future state.
