Deli Hub Catering fined over hygiene lapses after 21 cases of gastroenteritis reported

SINGAPORE: On September 20, Deli Hub Catering received a S$ 4, 000 ( US$ 2, 900 ) fine for hygiene violations after 21 customers became ill after consuming food the company had prepared the previous year.

After receiving reports of gastroenteritis involving 21 people in December, the Ministry of Health ( MOH) and Singapore Food Agency ( SFA ) launched a joint investigation at Deli Hub Catering’s location.

A dirty cooler, dirty food preparation pots, and empty paper towel containers were among the lapses in health, according to SFA.

Deli Hub Catering, a division of the tycoon Neo Group, was established by SFA to correct the errors.

The affair resulted in no hospitalizations. & nbsp,

Food safety is a” shared responsibility because food can become contaminated anywhere along the food chain ,” according to SFA.

The economy and consumers may also play their part, even though SFA continues to be watchful and works to make sure that regulation measures are in place and properly enforced.

Offenders could receive a fine of up to$ 5,000,000. If the offense persists after sentence, they may also be subject to an additional fine of up to S$ 100 per day.
