China's Xi tells Vietnam not to forget roots of their friendship

BEIJING: On Friday, October 20, Chinese President Xi Jinping urged Vietnam’s second-highest ranking official to remember the” original purpose” of their long-standing connection.

Vietnam, which improved its relations with Washington to a complete corporate collaboration in September, putting its one-time army on line with Beijing and Moscow, is one of the East Asian countries that China and the United States have been vying for influence with.

Despite a simple battle in 1979, China has maintained close ties with Vietnam since the country’s political connections were established in 1950. Beijing has supported Hanoi’s battle during the Vietnam War against Saigon and the United States as well as former colonial rule France.

” The two countries must not forget the original purpose of their traditional friendship, faced with the ever-changing international position and arduous domestic growth things ,” Xi advised visiting Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong.

After attending Beijing’s Belt and Road Forum, Thuong, who is ranked No. 2 in Vietnam after its Communist Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, met with Xi.

According to sources with knowledge of the programs, Reuters reported in early October that Taiwanese and Chinese leaders were getting ready for a probable journey by Xi to Hanoi either at the end of October or early November.

According to Xi,” The two sides should uphold the concept of shared consultation ,” and China and Vietnam may take advantage of their proximity to one another and complementary economies.

The Chinese position press display of their appointment made no mention of any Xi visits.

When the two people met on the outside of the Belt and Road Forum on Wednesday, Asian state media reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin had accepted Thuong’s offer to” shortly” visit Vietnam.

US President Joe Biden traveled to Hanoi in September.
