Alibaba Cloud announced the top 3 winners in Malaysia for its 2022 [email protected] Alibaba Cloud Global Startup Contest (CACSC) at Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU).

The competition drew 141 submissions from companies in Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Pakistan with 124 of them from Malaysia. The strong Malaysian participation is explained by the fact that the physical competition is held in Malaysia.

Seventeen out of the top 20 finalists came from Malaysia with the other three from Cambodia. Malaysian startup Parkit won 1st place, followed by Cambodia’s CheckinMe as first runner-up and another Malaysian startup, IWG eSport Sdn Bhd as the third place winner.

Dubbed as “the Olympics” of technology venture capital, CACSC is one of the world’s biggest entrepreneurship contests which covers dozens of countries and just under one hundred cities worldwide. Partnered with HandsProfit, the local operator of Alibaba Cloud Innovation Center in KL and My Lives Global Capital Sdn Bhd as co-organizing partner.

According to Alibaba Cloud, the competition underwent a stringent two months and three rounds of judging process, and witnessed outstanding contestants from various industries – retail, logistics, agriculture, internet, F&B, all bringing promising business concepts with investment ready proposals.

“In alignment with Alibaba Cloud’s long term commitment to nurture bright, up-and-coming talents, we are looking forward to more and more unicorns in Malaysia and together witness a booming era of entrepreneurial innovation in the near future,” said Kun Huang, General Manager of Malaysia, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence. “I would like to congratulate all the contestants. Starting your own business is never easy and keeping the momentum going requires a lot of energy, effort and skills, and all these have already made you a success story.”

Acting as a platform to drive digital transformation and tech innovation and for tech startups to unleash their potential via a network of investor ecosystems, the CACSC allows the top three winners to further shine and rise in a global front. The winners will represent Malaysia at the world Grand Final of [email protected] Alibaba Cloud Global Startup Contest in China, to be held on Dec.
