SINGAPORE: Healthcare provider Doctor Anywhere ( DA ) has laid off about 45 employees, or 8.1 per cent of its workforce.
” This restructuring is part of a broader effort to adapt to current economic challenges and secure the company’s long-term sustainability”, said Doctor Anywhere on Friday ( Dec 13 ) in response to CNA’s queries.
This difficult choice was made to ensure that DA stays focused on the areas where we can make the most of our clients and partners and in accordance with our goal to create a more affordable and accessible” Hospital Wherever” model in Asia.
The affected tasks had become “duplicative” as the company streamlined its procedures and restructured its tech staff into “leaner, more lean” models, added Doctor Wherever.
When asked how it would help affected workers, it said it would give “enhanced compensation benefits that exceed legal requirements, including compensation pay based on tenure, notice period pay, leave encashment, and extended healthcare coverage where appropriate”.
Doctor Anywhere , added that it will also help affected employees with immigration help, where needed.  ,
The company had announced intentions in 2022 to increase its therefore staff of over 450 individuals as well include 200 new jobs to its , regional headquarters in Singapore.
Founded in 2017 , as a Singapore healthcare start-up, it , has since grown to become a regional medical service with a reputation in six East Asian countries, including Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia.
Doctor Everywhere, according to its website, offers more than 2.8 million users in the area telemedicine services, as well as seven clinics in Singapore and an included health facility in Orchard Road.
For FY23, it saw an operating loss of S$ 31.1 million ( US$ 23.6 million ),  , which was an improvement of 17 per cent year on year,  , several Singapore media outlets, including The Business Times, reported.
