Europeans demand China quit aiding Putin in Ukraine

As a few Chinese companies were accused of providing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s battle system, China has come under pressure from the United Kingdom and the European Union. &nbsp,

The UK sanctioned 46 businesses and individuals, the majority of which are based in Russia while three are registered in Hong Kong, after the Group of Seven ( G7 ) leaders discussed the Ukraine war in a virtual meeting on Wednesday. Due to the Ukraine War, the UK has never before sanctioned Foreign businesses.

The G7 leaders reiterated a responsibility they had made during the conference in Hiroshima, Japan, in May. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, joined them. &nbsp,

The G7 leaders stated in a statement that” Our devotion remains to restrict imports of all products essential to Russia’s military and commercial base, including those used on the field, and we call on third parties to get similar action.” We reiterate our demand that third parties stop materially aiding Russia’s anger right away or confront serious repercussions.

According to them,” We urge China to put pressure on Russia to halt its military aggression and soon, entirely, and unconditionally withdraw its troops from Ukraine.”

They continued by urging China to support a complete, only, and long-lasting harmony based on regional morality and the values and goals of the UN Charter, including through its direct dialogue with Ukraine. &nbsp,

However, Charles Michel of the European Council asked China to deal with 13 companies involved in providing Russia with dual-use products right away during a meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday in Beijing.

Michel stated that if there have been insufficient assurances from Beijing, EU leaders meeting in Brussels may decide to label the Taiwanese firms next year.

China vs. the British

The UK and Chinese institutions have engaged in numerous verbal battles in recent years over issues with Xinjiang’s individual rights as well as Hong Kongs ‘ democracy and freedom. &nbsp,

The UK government announced 46 fresh sanctions on Wednesday that target people and organizations that supply and support Putin’s war machine. &nbsp,

31 Russian people and organizations involved in the design, production, import, and supply of crucial electrical parts were among those sanctioned. &nbsp,

Four businesses—one each in Belarus, Serbia, Turkey, and Uzbekistan—were fined for shipping goods to Russia, while four UAE-based organizations were charged with facilitating unrestricted deal in Russian oil.

Three Hong Kong-registered businesses were likewise fined.

The latest sanctions, according to UK Sanctions Minister Anne-Marie Trevelyan, may target Putin directly, harming Russian security systems and putting a stop to the improper supply chains that support Russia’s war machine. &nbsp,

The National Crime Agency of the United Kingdom (NCA ) warned financial institutions and other UK-regulated industry members on Wednesday that Russia is attempting to obtain goods sanctioned by the UK through middlemen.

According to the NCA, UK businesses should follow a” Popular Great Priority” item list created by the UK, the US, EU, and Japan and do their due diligence to ensure that their products do not end up in Russia.

The list includes integrated circuits, different electrical and mechanical parts, and many items discovered on Ukrainian battlefields.

Asia Pacific Links Ltd., Sinno Electronics Co Ltd, and Xinghua Co. are the three Hong Kong-based businesses that have been named and approved.

A report by the Royal United Services Institute ( RUSI), a defense and security think tank founded in 1831, explaining their relationships and operations was released in December of last year. &nbsp,

A Russian company named Radioactomatika will receive electronics from Sinno Electronics, a manufacturer of light-emitting diodes ( LEDs ), which was added to the US Commerce Department’s Entity List in June 2022. The US Treasury Department more sanctioned Sinno in September of last year. &nbsp,

The largest provider of SMT- iLOGIC, a drone manufacturer based in St. Petersburg, is Asia Pacific Links, an American-based microelectronics company run by Soviet national Anton Trofimov. &nbsp,

The Beijing-based Luchengtech Co Ltd, a provider of dual-use notebook computers, is the parent company of Xinghua CoLTD. Additionally, it sells electronic products from Advantech and Getac‘s sturdy servers. Yuan Jilun, a Taiwanese nationwide, is the owner. &nbsp,

In May of this year, the US Departments of Treasury and Commerce sanctioned Asia Pacific Links, Luchengtech, and its affiliate company, XinghuaHengchengg, for sourcing Taiwanese digital products for SMT-iLOGIC.

China expressed its criticism of the modernizations. According to a statement from Chinese Ambassador to the UK Zheng Zeguang,” We tightly oppose for action and have lodged harsh images with the British side.” The UK’s behavior violates global rules, abuses unilateral sanctions, and harms the rights and interests of Taiwanese businesses, according to nbsp.

Zheng even criticized the UK for disregarded public opinion both domestically and globally and for escalating the conflict in Ukraine.

” The UK has made mistakes to censure companies in China and other countries, rather than reflecting on its own despicable behaviour.” This entirely exposes the hypocrisy of the UK as a whole, he claimed. ” We implore the UK government to quickly right its wrong and lift sanctions against Foreign businesses.”

He continued by saying that the Chinese government would take strong, decisive action to protect the rights and interests of Chinese businesses. Any activity that harms China’s pursuits, he said, will be met with a stern retaliation. &nbsp,
