CREST becomes MITI agency, facilitating NIMP 2030’s target to elevate E&E industry in global value chains

Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science, and Technology( CREST ) is now a division of the Ministry of Investment, Trade & amp, Industry ( MITI ).

In a statement, MITI emphasized that CREST, an industry-led organization established in 2012 to support the Research, Development, and Commercialization ( R & amp, D & AMP, C ) ecosystem in Malaysia’s Electrical andamp; Electronics sector through market-driven collaborative R & amp; D and Talent Development; aligns with its goal of enhancing the industrial complexity of Malaysia under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 ( NIMP 2030 ).

E & amp, which made up 38.3 % of Malaysia’s total exports in 2022, reached US$ 126.8 billion( RM592.96 billion ). This industry generated 9, 099 higher-paying jobs at the Managerial, Technical, and Supervisory levels during the same year, making it the leading industry in job creation. It attracted 106 investment projects valued at US$ 6.2 billion( RM29.3 billion ).

Tengku Zafrul Aziz, the minister of expenditure, commerce, and industry, gave CREST a warm pleasant within the MITI community and emphasized how timely and appropriate it is for the company to be included in the ecosystem. & nbsp,

As stated in the recently released NIMP 2030, he emphasized CREST’s important role in aiding the creation of Malaysia ‘ first wafer construction company and five Integrated Circuit design companies. He added that CREST will also be crucial in helping Malaysia’s semiconductor industry rise up the global value chain, increasing exports of E & amp and E, and helping the MADANI Economy achieve its objective of ranking among the top 30 economies in the world.

Following a Triple Helix model that prioritizes comprehensive support for the sustainable advancement of the E & amp, E industry, CREST’s membership representation includes people from the government, business, and academia. & nbsp,
