Pentagon, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs discuss ties

WASHINGTON: On Wednesday, August 2, senior US and Chinese national surveillance officers had a unique high-level conversation with an official from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to the Pentagon.

According to a Pentagon spokesman, Assistant Secretary Ratner and Director Yang talked about local security concerns as well as US-PRC protection relations.

He was referring to People’s Republic of China Ministry of Foreign Affairs Department of North British and Oceanian Affairs Director – General Yang Tao and Ely Ratner, assistant secretary of defense for Indo-Pacific safety matters.

The spokesperson continued,” The Assistant Secretary also emphasized the Department’s ongoing commitment to maintaining open lines of military-to-military communication between the United States and the PRC.”
