SINGAPORE: When parliament meets on Monday, May 8, several members of parliament will raise concerns about the recent increase in Certificate of Entitlement ( COE ) premiums.
S Iswaran, the secretary of transportation, is also scheduled to give a ministerial speech on meeting Singaporeans’ transportation needs.
From the causes of rising costs to whether the government is thinking about reducing rates, there are many unanswered questions about the COE. & nbsp,
MP Lim Wee Kiak( PAP – Sembawang ) enquired as to whether things like an influx of foreign residents are to blame for the rise in COE fees.
MP Melvin Yong( PAP – Radin Mas ) enquired as to whether there are any plans to assist those who depend on driving for a living but have been” priced out” by high COE premiums.
The number of new cars registered by & nbsp, ride-hailing, and car leasing companies each month as a percentage of the total number was questioned by MP Dennis Tan( WP – Hougang ).
MP Mariam Jaafar( PAP-Sembawang) questioned whether the government would take more severe actions against dealers who might be bidding speculatively in relation to motorcycle COEs and nbsp.
Additionally, she questioned whether officials would take” more decisive measures” to stop private-hire companies from raising Department prices.
