‘Small handful’ of safe-distancing ambassadors left, almost all have returned to other sectors: MSE

SINGAPORE: Only a “small handful” of safe-distancing ambassadors are left because of contractual arrangements, along with almost all having returned to other sectors, mentioned the Ministry associated with Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) on Tuesday (Sep 20).

Safe-distancing ambassadors were employed by the Government during the COVID-19 outbreak to guide and recommend businesses and people in order to comply with safe management measures.

Considering that April this year, it is often stepping down the application of safe-distancing ambassadors and assisting them to seek alternative work.

“Some private companies have also deployed their own personnel on the premises to perform comparable roles to the Government’s safe-distancing ambassadors, ” said MSE in response to queries from CNA.

CNA has contacted the particular ministry for more information regarding the remaining safe-distancing ambassadors.

MSE stated that the Government will carry on and deploy enforcement officials to conduct checks and investigations on violations of secure management measures.

“Only enforcement officials, who are public officers currently employed by federal government agencies, police officers plus auxiliary police officers, possess the authority to perform enforcement against safe management measures infractions, ” said MSE.
