- The NVIDIA-powered service is only for Yes 5G customers for now
- It is free and is not limited to smartphones users on data connections
YES by YTL Communications recently announced the official exclusive beta launch of the NVIDIA GeForce NOW cloud gaming service in Malaysia. The service is only available to YES 5G customers and is free until 10 April when it will be fully launched and open to the public.
“We are proud to finally bring our collaboration with NVIDIA in Malaysia into fruition and kick start our exclusive beta phase of the GeForce NOW cloud gaming platform,” said Wing K. Lee, CEO of YTL Communications. “Through this exclusive beta launch, we hope to deliver to our customers and gamers an unparalleled entertainment experience, amplified with YES 5G, allowing them to explore their fullest gaming potential before anyone else.”
Cloud gaming on GeForce NOW allows nearly any device, including laptop, desktop, Mac, TV, Android device, iPhone, or iPad to be used to play AAA games with RTX On in 1080p at 60FPS. As long as users are connected to the internet.
The service is not limited to smart devices on the YES 5G network. However, because the resolution and performance of each game scale to the connection speed and stability, in a mobile setting, those on a 5G connection will have a better experience than someone on 4G.
GeForce NOW powered by YES 5G connects to most major game platforms such as Steam, Epic Games Store, and Ubisoft. Currently, it has over 1,500 titles ready to stream and over 100 free-to-play games.
During the beta, each player gets 6 hours of play per session before they have to get back in the queue. Because this is a demanding cloud service, server capacity may be limited and players will have to take turns based on demand.
In contrast, a free GeForce NOW account commonly gives a player 1 hour of game time.
YES, expect more than 3,000 users to sign up for the service during the beta. Non-YES 5G customers can still get early access to the service by subscribing to YES 5G.
Those on the beta will be notified and given the option to enrol in a GeForce NOW subscription plan one week before the test ends and the service is officially launched.
