Xi meets Blinken as China warns US against crossing 'red lines' - BBC News

Thank you for watching as we bring you live changes from the conference between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The appointment is taking place at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People. Only shortly before the event began at 16 :00 local time ( 9:00 BST ), Beijing and Washington officials publicly confirmed it.

Blinken has only been in China for a next time in less than a month. Following a season of intense hostility, his journey is widely seen as an effort to stabilize connections. During his visit to the Great Hall of the People in June of last year, Xi and Blinken also spoke about their plans.

Earlier today, Blinken met with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi at Beijing’s Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, where Wang cautioned the US against stepping on China’s “red ranges”.

Mr Blinken is expected to handle writers in less than two days, at 18: 00 native time.

Keep tuned as we provide the newest.
