According to a federal official, the World Songkran Festival may be held across the country from April 1 to April 21.

This came after Unesco recently recognized the Songkran event as an enduring cultural heritage of humanity, according to Chai Wacharonke on Monday.

According to him, the Culture Ministry had already received a certificate from the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization ( Unesco ) recognizing the festival.

The local Songkran customs and activities may be encouraged by the World Songklan Festival. According to the spokesman, its organization would be under the control of social networks in Bangkok’s 50 districts and 76 provinces.

The state of Prayut Chan o gan first submitted an application for Unesco list for Songkran in March 2020.

Songkran is the customary New Year’s celebration in Thailand, with national activities typically taking place from April 13 to 15. Providing alms to monks, dousing revered elders in water, cultural performances, and frequently loud and somewhat legendary water-sprinkling activities are some of the activities.
