A bill that requires TikTok’s Chinese parent organization ByteDance to promote the wildly popular social media app or been outlawed in the United States was passed by US lawmakers this week.
But why does the US do this? And if it has to do with doubts about China, why is it pursuing a business with a head office in Singapore? Will TikTok actually getting banned?
