Vietnam fire: Residents trapped in deadly Hanoi apartment blaze

A massive fire that broke out in a high-rise house building in Vietnam’s money Hanoi is known to have claimed the lives of at least eight people and injured dozens more.

According to state media, the nine-story tower had seen the rescue of about 70 people, many of whom had been taken to hospitals.

Although the flames that started during the night has been put out, recovery efforts are still going on.

Many just constructed rentals, according to Hanoi’s rapidly expanding authorities, do not adhere to fire safety regulations.

In the last 20 years, the city’s inhabitants has quadrupled.

Around 2300 native day, people reported hearing a loud bang and then observing black smoke rising through the structure.

According to one home, they were forced to flee by slamming the metal railings in their windows and lowering a ladder to another nearby structure.

” I heard a lot of cries for assistance. Hoa, a neighboring woman, told the AFP information company,” We could not really help them much.”

” The patients are unable to leave the apartment because it is so sealed and there is no way out.”

The corner that the burning house block was in prevented fifteen fire engines from approaching it because it was too small.

The flames emphasizes the difficulties in controlling fire safety in the country’s rapidly expanding and ill regulated cities.

A music club in southern Vietnam had panels that were bricked up, preventing flight, and 33 folks died in a blaze there almost exactly one year earlier.

Similar tragedies have occurred in various South East Asian nations like Thailand, where requirements were frequently found to be ineffective or simply not enforced.
