However , mask-wearing at events is going to be optional from next Monday, said Mister Wong adding that events are not important services where an increased proportion of older persons are more likely to be exposed to COVID-19.
Mr Wong added that occasion organisers and place operators can decide on regardless of whether participants will have to use their masks.
“Event organisers and venue workers may well decide on the case-by-case basis, based on the settings, depending on the event, that they would still continue with face masks as a requirement, ” he said.
From next Monday, people in Singapore will not be required to wear a mask except on public transportation and in healthcare amenities.
Face masks will still have to become worn on transport modes such as the MRT, LRT and open public buses, as well as in indoor public transportation facilities like boarding areas at bus interchanges and MRT platforms.
But they will not be required at airports, normally ventilated bus interchanges and in the retail areas of bus interchanges, MRT and LRT stations.
Face masks will be optional upon private transport modes such as taxis, school buses and personal bus services, said the Ministry associated with Health (MOH) in the separate press release upon Wednesday.
