Unexploded World War II relic removed from Ang Mo Kio construction site

Old World War II ammunition was removed from a construction site in Ang Mo Kio, where the upcoming Teck Ghee MRT place will be constructed, on Friday ( June 28 ). &nbsp,

The battle relic was discovered during construction work along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 and Marymount Road, according to the authorities. &nbsp,

Around 5.45 p.m., they worked with the SAF’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit to ascertain that the product was an old WWII ordnance. &nbsp,

It was determined to be safe to handle, and it has been moved aside to be recycled. No harm was posed to the public”, the authorities said.

CNA has contacted the Ministry of Defense for more details regarding how to get rid of the battle object. &nbsp,

During the course of a 100kg World War II aerial bombing that was discovered at the Myst condo building site, thousands of residents and workers in some of Upper Bukit Timah occupied their homes and offices for hours last September.

The SAF’s bomb disposal group had determined at the time that moving the battle relic was uncomfortable and had carried out a” handled disposal” on the spot.

Experts told CNA last season that it is not surprising to discover old war relics in random areas of Singapore because World War II bombing was “highly inaccurate.”

CNA has even reached out to the Land Transport Authority for more details. Along Phase 1 of the Cross Island Line, there will be an underground place called Teck Ghee MRT station. This stage of the project’s building started in January 2023.
