Traffic police officer charged with dangerous driving that led to death of pedestrian near Tai Seng

A traffic police officer was detained on Tuesday ( Jun 25 ) on suspicion of dangerous driving, which led to the fatal accident of a pedestrian crossing the Tai Seng River last year.

At around 5.40 p.m. on Jun 21, 2023, Muhammad Firdaus Yusoff, 32, rode a bike at dangerous speeds between 94. 3 km and 111 km near the intersection of Hougang Avenue 3 and Kim Chuan Drive.

The frequency limit that is 50kmh.

As a result, he was reportedly able to respond in time when a commuter, Mr Tan Leng Hing, crossed the road on Firdaus ‘ left.

According to the charge sheet, Firdaus collided with Mr. Tan, which left him with numerous wounds that eventually led to his death.

On Tuesday, Firdaus made no apparent evidence of his plea.

Firdaus may spend between two and eight years in prison if found guilty of dangerous travelling that led to death.

He could also be banned from driving.
