
Tens of thousands of people are traveling to their house provinces or vacation destinations across the country on Saturday as the first day of the Songkran 2025 vacation kicked off.
Veeris Ammarapala, the governor of the State Railway of Thailand ( SRT), reported that Krungthep Apiwat Station was crowded all day with travelers, with more than 81 000 of them leaving. On the first day, the number of passengers expected to be higher than 117, 000.
In response to the rise in travel demand, he claimed, and that the SRT increased the frequency of trains and made sure there were staff members waiting to help passengers. Police were also in place to improve safety at train stations.
On Friday, the day of the Songkran trip, Mr. Veeris reported that there were 90, 347 train passengers traveling in total, with no travellers left stranded.
The northern collection had 17, 603 passengers and the southern road had the highest number of passengers, at 31, 036, followed by the northern route with 25, 042, and by the southern road with 31, 036.
The last travelers relied on the northeast lines and the Mahachai and Mae Klong’s short-distance roads.
According to Thakoon Intarachom, chairman of the SRT’s coach functions, further vehicles were added to all roads, and train companies can now accommodate up to 120, 000 passengers per day.
Around 120, 000 people were anticipated on Saturday at the Mor Chit bus terminal, according to Chatchawal Porn-amorntham, the acting professional director of Transport Co.
He claimed an additional fleet of 1, 000 trucks was being used to control the increase.
On Friday, according to Mr. Chatchawal, 106, 337 folks left Mor Chit, and 46, 006 persons arrived.
Despite having the M6 motorway ( Hin Kong–Korat ) being opened to ease congestion, traffic on Mittraphap Road headed toward Nakhon Ratchasima, the gateway to the northeastern region, was heavy and slow-moving.
Along the way, there were also crowded petrol stations filled with people taking cuts from their adventures and refueling.
Customers volume increased on Friday nights on Asia Road in Chai Nat’s Manorom area as it heads northward.
Nevertheless, it remained largely soft, despite having some small congestion. In the city of Phayuha Khiri in Nakhon Sawan, heavy traffic was reported after vehicles from Asia Road and Phahon Yothin Road merged, creating a bottleneck.
Officials are urging all drivers to prioritize health and abide by customers rules.
