Today, the tropical isle has become a second house to the 66-year-old, who knows most of the trails and location of homes by heart.
But with some houses located in remote areas and hidden by overgrown shrubs and trees, getting to this stage had not been an easy feat and required a lot of trial and error.
“On the particular mainland, it’s simple to deliver mail because the postal codes and house numbers are extremely nicely arranged and running order but here, it’s different, ” said Mr Shahruddin.
“Here, the house numbers are certainly not in running order and sometimes, the house you need to deliver email to isn’t also there anymore mainly because it’s been destroyed.
“I’ve already been doing this for four years now, yet I think I only know around 85 per cent of the homes here. For the rest, I might have to go to the Nationwide Parks Board office here to find out their particular exact location, ” he added.
