‘There is no excuse’: Singapore swimmer Amanda Lim apologises after given stern warning by CNB

In response to questions from CNA, Lim said that she would do her best to become a “better version” of herself.  

“To my supporters, family and friends, We are deeply sorry with regard to my actions. There is no excuse and I will require the warning provided to me seriously plus reflect on my errors, ” she said in a statement.

“My swimming career has been filled with many ups and downs over the past decade. Throughout the wins plus losses, I’ve normally strived to be better in and out of the swimming pool. ”

Lim has represented Singapore for more than a 10 years, winning multiple Southeast Asian Games medals. She also recently competed at the Commonwealth Games.

SportSG noted that Lim and Schooling are national carded sports athletes who receive support from the agency.

“All TeamSG sportsmen are expected to support the highest standards of conduct as associates of Singapore in the sporting world phase, at all times. Unlawful or unsportsmanlike conduct will not be condoned, ” said SportSG.

“SportSG intends to completely review the circumstances behind these cases, plus determine the appropriate steps to be taken thereafter. ”

It additional that the  Singapore Swimming Association (SSA) and the Singapore Nationwide Olympic Council (SNOC) will also be reviewing appropriate actions on their component.

Lim additional: “I will continue to work completely with Sport Singapore for the next steps to be taken and do my best to become a better version of myself. ”

SSA president Mark Chay said the organization is disappointed along with Lim’s and Schooling’s actions.

“Drugs have no place in the society and we take a zero-tolerance stance toward illegal drug make use of.

“This information, along with the expectations for our national athletes in order to uphold the highest requirements of conduct, is going to be strongly reinforced among our community through our national instructors and affiliates.

“Together with SportSG and stakeholders, we will review the facts from the case and determine appropriate steps to consider. ”

Education confessed to using cannabis overseas in-may when he was on short-term disruption from full-time Nationwide Service (NS) to coach and participate in the SEA Games, the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said on Tuesday.

Following current protocol, Schooling can be  placed on the supervised urine check regime for 6 months. All SAF staff who test positive during this regime is going to be charged and sentenced accordingly,   mentioned MINDEF.

He will also no longer be entitled to leave or interruption to train or compete while in NS.
