Thaksin Shinawatra, a former premier of Jailed, underwent orthopaedic surgery on Monday at the Police General Hospital( PGH ), though the Department of Corrections has not yet determined how long his recovery will take.
On Tuesday, Sahakarn Petnarin, the department’s acting director general and deputy permanent director for justice, stated that the Bangkok Remand Prison( BRP) had informed the division of the process.
According to a BRP report, Thaksin, who is regarded as the de facto leader of the Pheu Thai Party, underwent surgery at 9 am and was later transferred to the hospital’s Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit( NICU ) for recovery at 2 pm.
To make sure everything is in order, the department gave the BRP’s director the go-ahead to attend the NICU.
According to Mr. Sahakarn, Thaksin’s post-surgery state is still being evaluated, which will affect how long he stays in the hospital.
According to records, the 74-year-old former prime minister has a number of ailments linked to old age, such as herniated discs and poor hands and arms.
Even though the surgery was deemed essential and necessary, Mr. Sahakarn stated that once he entirely recovers, the patient will be brought back for treatment at the prison’s health facility.
He insisted that Thaksin isn’t getting any special care.
In the midst of concerns about Thaksin’s health, the news of his operation has been made public. On August 22, after returning from 15 times of self-imposed captivity, he was admitted to the hospital from the BRP.
According to the ministry, Thaksin is not the only slave who has been permitted to receive medical care outside of the facility for this much.
149 prisoners have received inside health care since October 1 of last year. According to the office, of them, 115 spent more than 30 days around, 30 stayed for longer than 60 times, and 4 spent over 120 time outdoors.

Social activist Srisuwan Janya, meanwhile, petitioned the Medical Council of Thailand( MCT) to look into allegations that Thaksin’s PGH doctors were fabricating his illnesses in order to support his freedom from captivity.
The prolific petitioner emphasized the gravity of the situation and the potential harm to Thailand’s judicial system as he pleaded with the MCT to determine whether the physician assessments of Thaksin and his circumstances adhere to professional requirements.
Mr. Srisuwan expressed concerns about the health staff’s discretion during the transfer, the lack of IV drips, and the use of a standard gurney rather than if Thaksin was in critical condition in response to questions regarding smears on social media that showed him being on his way to get scanned.
Thaksin’s admission to an intensive care unit and the operation were both approved by Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin. He wasn’t sure if Thaksin had been released from the intensive care unit, though.
According to Mr. Srettha, he has learned that Thaksin’s wings were pierced in four different places during the procedure.
