Thailand orders crop burning crackdown as pollution spikes

The government mandated on Thursday that provincial authorities follow the law’s ban on burning grain grass and demand that they disclose the number of farmers they have arrested for breaking the law.

” In every state, if you allow produce using or fail to utilize precautionary measures, you will be punished”, the Thai authorities said in a statement on Thursday.

More than 1.1 million pollution-protection faces have been distributed around the country, and the health department is to check vulnerable groups, including children and pregnant women.

Additionally, the government has advised owners to check whether their cars meet emission standards.

Between Friday and Wednesday, waste is expected to rise as a result of cool, steady wind that impedes the dispersal of contaminants.

Last year, Bangkok officials closed more than 350 institutions as waste soared, but no such order was given Friday.

The state’s Skytrain, rail, light rail system and bus services have been complimentary to use all year in a bid to lower emissions from cars.

Schools have recently been closed across various parts of Asia due to air pollution, including in Pakistan and India.

In November, officials in New Delhi instructed nearly two million kids to stay at home because of the worsening air pollutants.
